To get there: Go to Pattaya Bali Hai Pier, this is only a few minutes walk past Walking Street. There you can in 15 minutes by speedboat, about 1,500 baht per boat one way. There is no timetable set for the speedboats. You can also use the public transport ship, a way is only 20 baht per person, and it takes about 50 minutes to the port city in Koh Larne, (which now has a 24-hour 7-11). A boat departs Pattaya at 10 clock, and a few other times during the day, but always by 10 clock. Return boats to leave for Pattaya 3pm, 4pm, 5pm and 6 clock. Check back schedules upon arrival. From this port city, you have to transport to one of the many beaches. You can use either of the main beaches of "baht bus", which seats about 12 people, or you can get a motorbike taxi. A motorcycle taxi from 40 to 80 baht one way. The beaches are about 10 minutes away.

Other boat trips, some directly on Tawaen, where there is a boat dock, so it is easily accessible.

THE BEACHS: (Samae beach is probably the best overall performance) ...

TAWAEN BEACH is the largest and most. Many restaurants, some shops, which all the activities available. It is a bit narrow for some tastes, but some people like that. The water is beautiful. Not sure if it overnight at this beach.

SAMAE BEACH: the best! The most beautiful beach, some upmarket / upscale than other places. Nice selection of restaurants. A little more space, great, but does not seem that crowded. There are two places that the bungalows, including one of them that has air conditioned rooms. No name, no symptoms, but do not expect to see a room on the weekends, they will be full. They are very simple accommodations, but acceptable. They are not directly on the beach, but maybe 3 minutes on foot. There are also camping. These are on the rear end of the beach, (if you take the bus or motorcycle, all the way on the right side, if you are using the boat as you are on the beach from the water, all the way to the left) . This beach has a better quality and better shopping facilities restaurants.

NUAL BEACH: at the other end of the island, very quiet, only a handful of people. This beach is NUDISTS,

With its murky sea, streets packed with highrise hotels, and touts on every corner, PATTAYA is the epitome of exploitative tourism gone mad. The town swarms with male and female prostitutes, and plane-loads of Western men flock here to enjoy their services in the rash of go-go bars for which "Patpong-on-Sea" is notorious. Yet watersports facilities here are among the best in the country, and it's not a bad place to learn to dive, though the reefs off the Andaman Coast are more spectacular. TAT-approved dive shops that run four-day Open Water courses (B12,000) and diving expeditions include Aquarelax Diving Center on Soi 13/2 (tel 038 710900); Dave's Divers Den, 190/11 Thanon Central Pattaya (tel 038 420411); and Mermaid's Dive Centre (tel 038 232219), with branches on Soi White House in Jomtien, and between sois 10 and 11 on Thanon Pattaya Beach. Be wary of unqualified instructors and dodgy equipment when signing up at any dive centre.

Pattaya comprises three separate bays. At the centre is the four-kilometre Pattaya beach, fringed by a sliver of sand and packed with hotels, restaurants, bars and tour operators. The southerly bay, fourteen-kilometre-long Jomtien beach, is cleaner and quieter, but lacks shops and restaurants and is nothing special; and Naklua Bay, to the north of Pattaya beach, is mostly given over to condominiums.
